ウィーンを拠点に活動するグラフィックデザイナー、
Maryan Ivasyk氏とのコラボレーションプロジェクト。
東京を拠点に活動するサウンドアーティスト、
Rhucleの『Quiet Episodes』のカバーアートとカセットデザインを担当しました。
『Quiet Episodes』は、9組の異なるアーティストによる
9曲のアンビエントミュージックを収録したコンピレーションです。
今回のビジュアルは、音の振動によって生まれる対称的な模様
「クラドニ図形」から着想を得ています。静かに繰り返される周波数が、
目に見える形となって現れるその姿は、このアンビエント・コンピレーションを
表現するメタファーとしてふさわしいと考えました。
それぞれの楽曲には、3つの輪郭線が重なって生まれる円形の
「サウンド・プリント」をひとつずつ割り当てています。
カバーに配置された9つの円は、参加する9組のアーティストに対応しており、
それぞれ異なるパターンを持ちながら、
ひとつの構成としてまとまるようデザインしました。
フィジカル版のカセットには、9つのサウンド・プリントと
トラックリストを掲載した、折りたたみ式のカードを制作しました。
We are happy to share a collaboration project —
cover and tape design for Tokyo-based composer and sound artist
Rhucle’s Quiet Episodes.
It is a compilation that includes 9 tracks of ambient music
from 9 different artists.
The concept grew from Chladni figures —
the symmetric shapes that reflect sound.
It felt like the right metaphor for this ambient collection:
quiet, repeating frequencies settling into shape.
Each track got its own sound-print:
a circle built from three overlapping outlines.
The number of circles on the cover matches the number of artists
on the compilation — each with a unique pattern,
together forming one composition.
For the physical cassette, we made a fold-out card
showing all nine acoustic portraits alongside the tracklist.
